The Benefits of Incorporating Artificial Intelligence in K-12 Education

K-12 education can be referred to as an education system that consists of both primary and secondary schools that children receive from kindergarten up to the 12th grade. Over the years, there have been debates on the matter of AI as some people tend to view it as a cost-means of being more productive at work, while others see it as a revolution aimed at eliminating the need for human professionals in the world. However, AI has significantly transformed the face of education by opening new doors that lead to higher productivity, more successful students, and lower cost for the highly populated public-school system.

The following are some of the significant benefits of applying AI into K-12 education:

1. The education software can be adapted to various student needs

In a public school for example, where the population of students tends to be higher than the recommended available resources, it would be difficult for the tutors to cater to the individual needs of the students. Using AI increases the application of higher levels of individualized learning through adaptive learning programs, software and games. The system responds to the individual needs of a student by putting more effort into specific topics, redoing the areas where students haven’t quite clearly understood, and guiding students to accomplish a lot and at their pace.

Schools can use AI systems to monitor individual student progress and alert tutors on the various areas of weakness. The systems also relay advice to both parties, the students and tutors, on how to approach multiple concepts in weak sectors of the lesson or subject. This advice isn’t compulsory but can act as an excellent alternative option, which could be helpful when applied together with other methods of learning.

5. Students get extra support from AI tutors

Human tutors can offer a variety of things that machines are incapable of providing and which are fundamental to the students’ growth and development. Such include emotional and physical support in lessons such as P.E. However; AI systems provide tutoring programs that help students through various subjects such as writing, chemistry, basic mathematics and many other subjects.
